DIY Christmas Ornaments

Hi Everyone!  Wow have we been slacking with our blog!  The truth is we have been completely SLAMMED at the shop!  Every year 2 weekends in October there is a Arts and Craft Christmas Festival at our local fairgrounds, our shop is right on the way to the fairgrounds so we get extremely busy.  Which is great!  Now that that is over we are ready to get back to blogging!  We wanted to share a really great inexpensive Christmas Ornament that are easy to make.  This is also a good way to get started early for Christmas.  My mom and I have used these for years, there are so many ways you can use them.  So lets get started!  First the materials that you will need for this is styrofoam balls, pins, your choice of fabric.

Next you can cut the fabric into about 1"wide strips. The length will vary depending on the size of styrofoam ball you use.  For the 3" ball I used 2' long.

Push one pin all the way down to secure the first piece of fabric.
Now you can keep wrapping the fabric around to cover the styrofoam ball. Make sure you pull a little tight.

When you get to the end of the fabric make sure you pin it at the top or bottom of the ball.  The small extra piece you see in the picture above you should pin down then start the next fabric strand to cover this piece as seen below.

Once you have the whole ball covered you can pin your last piece on the top of the ball, where you will be able to hid the end piece.

Next I will show you how to put a hanger on the ornament ball and also decorate the top.  You can leave the top unfinished and use them as a bowl filler or in your tree as a filler.  My mom and I do both.  We decorate some and leave some plain.  You will need your glue gun for this part! Which is always fun!

I used this fabric to show how you can decorate the top.  First the piece of jute rope I pinned to the ball and then I put a dab of glue on it.

Next I used some berries, pine, and pinecones.

You can finish them all different ways.   We will be showing them on the trees soon!  There is always something rewarding about making your own ornaments.  Don't you think?  Thank you all for stopping by and we hope you enjoy making these great ornaments let us know how you do!
